For the Lion: New Codex Supplement and Painting

Hi all, it's Neil here with a new For the Lion post with some Deathwing reinforcements and following the new Codex Supplement Dark Angels release my ideas for a list to build towards.  This month I painted up a unit of 5 Deathwing Terminators and the Bladeguard Ancient.

Casting Off: Looking at the Full Rulebook

Hi all, its Neil here and I now have my full rulebook for Victory at Sea by Warlord Games so I thought I'd take a look at it.  My plan is to see how it compares to the quick start rulebook and whats new in it then look at from reading it how playing games looks by looking at the GW style game types of Narrative, Open and Matched play as these are my main games.  So its now time to get stuck in to the book!

WW3: Team Yankee - Faction Focus: Soviet - Part 2: Support Units

Hi all it's Neil here back after a bit of break for more WW3: Team Yankee with a look at the new Soviet book.  This post is part 2 of the look at the new Soviet book where I'll look at the supporting units such as artillery, AA, recon and aircraft.  If you're wanting to check out the formations and their main combat units there all in part 1.  If you're new to Team Yankee I've done a quick look at the rules and background here if you want to check it out.

James' Tsarakura Dynasty - Canoptek Scarabs

Ah yes, another new hobby project in a year where I told myself I'd focus on clearing out my backlog...

Why can't I ever stick to the plan?

When the new Necron range was released last year, the army went from one I had only a passing interest in to one I knew I had to collect at least some of. I started off by getting myself a Recruit Edition of Warhammer 40k for some of the new Necron Warriors to paint a test model. It's now a project I plan on slowly adding to throughout the year, and with the recent announcement of Hachette's Warhammer Imperium series, I've got lots of cheap models on the way!

In this post, I want to show one of the recent additions I've made to the collection in the form of some loveable little Canoptek Scarab bases.

Deimos the Steel Forge: Part 2

Hi all, it's Neil here with some more progress on my #NewYearNewArmy Adeptus Mechanicus project.  This month I'd added another 5 Skitarii Vanguard as well as Daedelosus, the techno-archaeologist from Blackstone Fortress Escalation who is supposed to be a great toolbox character (whom I happened to have in my house).  In addition to painting, I have been looking at some of the rules for the <Forgeworld> available from the codex and Engine War as I'll discuss what I've decided fits best with my idea of Deimos.

James' Hobby Projects: Azyrite Plaza

Here we go again with another of my random hobby projects!

In between some of the larger hobby jobs I want to complete this year, I've got a few smaller projects going on, mostly just things like clearing out long-standing items in my backlog or models I really want to paint. This post will detail something that's a bit of both.

In my previous post in this series, I detailed the work I'd been doing to finally finish off the Warcry starter sets terrain. In that post, I also mentioned plans to expand upon the set, and what do you know, I've managed to do just that in the form of the Azyrite Shattered Plaza that I finished recently.

In this post, I'll quickly go through the bits and how I went about painting them and whether I've now developed the terrain painters itch.

WW3: Team Yankee - Faction Focus: Soviet - Part 1: Formations

Hi all it's Neil here back after a bit of break for more WW3: Team Yankee with a look at the new Soviet book.  This post will be part 1 where I will take a look at the formations and their main combat units, while in part 2 I will look at the support units such as AA, artillery and aircraft.  I'm still a fairly new player so I wouldn't be looking at competitiveness for tournament play rather my impressions of the book and units as a newer player.  I hope this might be useful for those who are also new-ish to the game and maybe a nice read if you're a veteran to see a new players point of view.  If you are a new player I have looked at the rules in general over here.  In this post I will look at the formations and their core units while Part 2 will be to look at the supporting units such as artillery, AA vehicles, recon and aircraft.

Painting Guide: Neil's Alarith Stoneguard

Hi all Neil here with a guide on how I painted up my Alarith Stoneguard for my growing Lumineth army.  This is more of a post for myself to...
