Hi all it's Neil here with a new Casting off post for Victory at Sea. Its been a while since my last post mostly due to a lack of releases for my Royal Navy and a shift in what I've been painting and playing but I did recently-ish get my first actual game in with fellow warlord Tom. I'm not going to go into super detail about, rather I'll give my takes on how I felt the game played.

Casting Off: Matched Play Musings
Hi all Neil here with a new Casting Off post with some more of my musing about how to create a matched play style of play for Victory at Sea. Everything in here will be my ideas and opinions and are currently untested due to the COVID pandemic but hopefully I'll get to test them at some point. Creating a more matched play style means looking at list building, battleplans and scoring, which I will discuss in turn. Each of these are vital to creating a balanced matched play environment and will probably look very different from the section in the rulebook about gaming. Being a part of the community for the game I know that points are a controversial issue currently, pending a FAQ/Errata at the moment, but for this it kind of doesn't matter what the points are either a more sensible Warlord issued set or a community generated set so long as everyone playing a game (or event) are using the same one.

Casting Off: Looking at the Full Rulebook
Hi all, its Neil here and I now have my full rulebook for Victory at Sea by Warlord Games so I thought I'd take a look at it. My plan is to see how it compares to the quick start rulebook and whats new in it then look at from reading it how playing games looks by looking at the GW style game types of Narrative, Open and Matched play as these are my main games. So its now time to get stuck in to the book!

Casting Off: Pride of the Fleet
Hi all its Neil here with a new post for Casting Off. In this post I will talk about HMS Hood as I've painted up the model and I will give a bit of the Hoods history and involvement in WW2. In previous posts I've given my theory on how the ship type would work in game but as I did that in the post about the HMS Duke of York so instead I though that now I have three different battleships for the Royal Navy I will compare the three.

Casting Off: Eagle in Flight
Hi all its Neil here with another Casting Off post for Victory at Sea. This post will look at HMS Eagle, the first aircraft carrier for my Royal Navy fleet and some Swordfish for it to launch. I will also have a look at what HMS Eagle did in WW2, how aircraft carriers were used in WW2 and how I see their use in the game.
